Vignette Slovenia - Mandatory on all motorways
To drive on the motorways in Slovenia, you must pay a toll in the form of a car vignette. You can purchase this vignette online on this website. It will be delivered to your home within a few days.
Tolls Slovenia—Mandatory for motorised traffic
This toll obligation applies to all motorised traffic: cars, vans and motorhomes. Even motorbikes require a toll vignette.
For four-wheeled vehicles, the maximum permissible weight is 3500kg. If you travel to Slovenia with a caravan or trailer and do not exceed 3500kg, you will not require an additional vignette for your trailer. Separate vignettes and toll boxes are available for vehicles over 3500kg.
Which type of vignette best suits you depends on the length and frequency of the journey. If you go on holiday to Slovenia once a year for a week, a seven-day vignette will suffice. You can also opt for a vignette for one or six months. If you visit Slovenia several times a year, you can choose to purchase a one-year vignette.
Availability—where to buy the Slovenian vignette
You can purchase your vignette through various channels. It can be purchased both online and along the way. The ABTA does not sell the vignette for Slovenia.

En route in Germany or Slovenia
In 2021, you can buy your vignette en route at some petrol stations in Austria. These are the petrol stations just before the Slovenian border. Another option is to buy your vignette at a post office or the larger kiosks in the country itself. In the border regions, the vignette is occasionally available at petrol stations and supermarkets.
Please note that you need a vignette as soon as you cross the border with your car. This means that you might drive a little while in Slovenia without a vignette. There is a chance that you could be fined immediately. We recommend that you always buy a toll vignette for Slovenia in advance. The fines for not carrying a toll vignette amount to at least €300.
